BLOK is in place. Three Finch modules have been stacked in Eindhoven to form a two-story pavilion, complete with a rooftop terrace. Over the next few days, the partners will put the finishing touches on the project so that BLOK will be ready to welcome visitors during Dutch Design Week on October 17.
What does the future of affordable and sustainable housing look like? At Project Pasteur in Haarlem-Schalkwijk, you can already walk right through it. On Friday, October 2, we welcomed a small group of political representatives to Haarlem to show them what modular wood construction is already making possible and to discuss how we can work together to create more opportunities for it.
The Pasteur Project in Haarlem has been shortlisted for the 2026 National Wood Construction Award. This means the project is in the running for the People’s Choice Award. That award goes to the project with the most votes, so we need your vote.
During Dutch Design Week 2026 (October 17–25), a pavilion called BLOK—built entirely from three Finch modules—will be on display at Strijp-S in Eindhoven. While our modules are typically used in construction projects throughout the country, here they are open to the public at an iconic Dutch design festival.

Earlier this week, Finch Buildings welcomed architect Andrew Waugh to the Netherlands for a series of exclusive meetings. As the founder of Waugh Thistleton Architects, he is one of the world’s pioneers in large-scale timber construction.
The environmental permit for the De Santmark wooden residential complex in Castricum has been granted. A wooden residential complex with 37 lifetime-adaptable homes for seniors (55+) is being built on Santmark.
Why wait until tomorrow to build emission-free when it’s possible today? In an interview with the trade magazine Schoon van de Band, Timo Broersen discusses modular construction using wood as a concrete solution for an industry that still too often puts sustainability on the back burner.
Ilanit Welling recently joined the Finch Buildings team as office manager. This is a new role within our organization—and one we’ve all been secretly looking forward to for a while. In a growing team, someone who keeps track of things, handles the logistics, and takes the pressure off is worth their weight in gold!
