Since April 2025, Leendert Sonneveld has joined our team as technical designer, focusing on the research & development of our modular building platform. With his background as an industrial designer, years of experience in the creative manufacturing sector as well as his personal dedication to timber construction, Leendert brings a valuable mix of technical expertise and vision.
Leendert lives with his family in a self-built wooden house by CLT in Amsterdam-North. A process in which he literally and figuratively became immersed in wood construction. "A project on which I spent five years - in addition to my work - building," he says. "My children were born there, among the sawdust. That experience only strengthened my conviction: building with biobased materials is the future."
After studying Industrial Design, which focused on mass production, Leendert followed his heart toward developing unique and innovative projects. At Fiction Factory he worked for years as an engineer and project leader in interior and museum construction. Here he was involved in the development of a tornado machine for Nike, interactive installations for museums and the famous "Chocomaat" of Tony's Chocolonely, among others. He was also involved in the technical development of the Wikkelhouse - a modular tiny house made of cardboard.
With that rich experience and his personal mission, Leendert is committed to the continued development of our modular wood building platform at Finch. "For me, building with wood is not just an aesthetic or technical choice, but a necessary step towards a circular and climate-friendly construction sector."
We are proud that Leendert uses his knowledge and creativity to strengthen our mission: to build sustainable, scalable housing solutions that contribute to the world of tomorrow.
Welcome to Finch, Leendert!
