Woodworld visited Finch Buildings in the factory at our manufacturing partner MAAT Feeling Home in Sliedrecht. In the article, which appeared on September 23, 2025, editor-in-chief Jan Maurits Schouten writes about the production of Project Pasteur, our biggest project to date.
Pasteur in Haarlem is a project in collaboration with housing corporation Elan Wonen, HBB Groep, MAAT and FARO architects. It includes three residential blocks with a total of 322 modules. These are prepared in the factory in detail, including installations, kitchens and bathrooms, and then stacked on site to form three to four layers.
A sophisticated rail system and clear demarcation drawings are used within MAAT's halls. Each module consists of a CLT floor and ceiling, combined with frames of laminated columns and beams and wood-frame infills. The wooden ceilings and beams remain partially visible, enhancing the natural look.
With the realization of Pasteur, we are taking another step in scalable, circular housing construction. The project confirms that biobased, industrial construction is not only sustainable, but also feasible on a large scale.
