On Oct. 24, 2024, our founder Jurrian Knijtijzer shared his vision during the Congress Future-proof Construction. His session How Finch Buildings makes wood construction very common gave an inspiring look at the future of building with wood.
It is now clear that wood construction is the building method of the future, but there are still plenty of challenges in today's building climate. Jurrian took the audience through our process, collaborations, business case and lessons learned.
With our practical examples we have shown that wood construction is a crucial asset in accelerating and scaling up residential construction. The solutions are there and they are becoming increasingly affordable. The battle against traditional construction will only become fair if additional data such as CO2 storage, residual value, construction speed and CSRD are included in future calculations. All the more important, then, to add "cells" to spreadsheets now to make truly future-proof real estate business cases.
Missed the session, but want to learn more about how Finch Buildings makes wood building accessible and feasible and what "cells" we would add? Get in touch, we'd love to talk further!
