To further optimize the floor details of our modules, we had Peutz conduct an independent fire test on a fully loaded floor structure—exactly as it would function in an actual building.
The results far exceeded expectations!
✔️ The structure remained intact for much longer than required
✔️ The 120-minute benchmark was easily met
✔️ In the combustion chamber, the temperature rose to over 1,100°C, while the floor above remained around 20°C
Fire safety requires smart design, testing, and continuous improvement. That is why our colleagues work day in and day out to further improve our building system. For example, this week we are conducting two fire tests focused on preventing and limiting the spread of fire through the piping in the modules.
How fireproof are wooden buildings?
Solid wood performs exceptionally well in the event of a fire. Thick CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) panels develop a protective char layer that insulates the core and slows the spread of fire. Finch Buildings is an active member of the Dutch NEN fire safety committee and contributes to standards that make buildings safe and future-proof. Independent tests show that our buildings are at least as safe as concrete structures.
